Pure Water Bottle

Industrial designer Timothy Whitehead recently claimed the James Dyson U.K. national award for his Pure water filtration bottle that uses a UV bulb to sterilize impure water in two minutes. While traveling through Zambia, Whitehead observed people's dependence on chlorine and iodine tablets to clean their water, which took 30 minutes to take effect and produced an unpleasant taste. So Whitehead turned to UV technology to help speed things up.He crafted a prototype featuring a double chamber design and plunger that removes particles as small as four microns from contaminated H20. A wind-up UV bulb then further purifies the water in 90 seconds. Tests showed the system sterlized 99.9 percent of bacteria found in the water
